Best October Memory

About two years ago in Dublin I was staying at a friends place and a German girl who was staying there also  showed me this song. Such nostalgia for our bottles of 5.50eu Hardy's Chardonnay, making the best pasta ever and being quite hammered so forgetting the recipe :( Virginia I'll never forget the hilarious ad's you showed me as well ;-)

My Friend Milliner John Shevlin

So I'd like to talk about hats , some people wear them and are transformed and some well .... aren't . My friend in Dublin John Shevlin, I must say makes the most fantastic hats and at reasonable prices too (approx 50-120eu). This year has been a wonderful year for John as his hats are for sale in Arnotts one of Irelands most  highly regarded stores aswell as in a beautiful boutique on Cows Lane Temple Bar. Not much to those of you outside Ireland but this man is gaining recognition internationally and has a very loyal clientele.
Here are some photos of the choices available and some that I couldn't resist trying on .

(Sorry for the bad photography :-/)
In recent years I believe Ireland has made way for hats to be back in fashion. Take Philip Tracey for example who is leading the way for Irish hat designers and making "mhuintir na hÉireann galánta" on an international stage. And it wont be long before John is recognised as one of Irelands best kept secrets.

My most delicious Apple Crumble

Ingredients - Serves 4 to 6

(225g) flour - plain wholemeal
(100g) margarine
(50g) muscovado or soft brown sugar
(450g) baking apples

Half teaspoon cinnamon
Splash of vanilla
Crushed hazelnuts

Method

  • Wash, core and chop the apples into chunks. Put in a pan with 4 tablespoons of water and a little lemon juice and. Put on moderate heat and leave to stew for 5 minutes or so, stirring occasionally. The apple should be just starting to soften, not becoming a pulp. Add in the Vanilla & cinnamon
  • Mix flour and margarine with the fingertips until it is like the texture of breadcrumbs. Add the sugar and mix.
  • Put the cooked apples in a greased pie dish and sprinkle with a little more sugar. Cover with the crumble mixture. Top with hazelnuts
  • Bake in the oven at gas mark 5, 190°C, 375°F for 30 to 40 minutes, or until brown on top.(It should look a little like this)

This recipe can be used to make any sort of fruit crumble. For example rhubarb - just substitute the apples with 450g of washed and chopped rhubarb for every 4 people and treat it in exactly the same way. Other varieties could include blackcurrent, blueberry, blackberry and apple, almost anything you like really.

My new Love and Loss :(

A couple of years ago I was shopping in Brown Thomas www.brownthomas.com and bought a beautiful and perfect fitting J.Lindeberg double breasted jacket which I adored but as time and age would have it I grew too big for it , total devastation :(
This autumn winter they are absolutely everywhere and my big question who to choose from I do like this velvet skinny fit from Burberry as it would be flattering .
This grey long double breasted coat from Gucci also really has me interested ( wouyld be perfect for winter in the Rhone Alpes! )eu_fw12_fs_mrtw_8
I also found this on www.aliexpress.com khaki short and casual ideal for urban adventures

All these jackets and coats are ideal in different cases Formal , Preppie or Casual . I think I have a lot to choose from but expect to see these everywhere this autumn winter and unlike me buy one you will have for a while as you never know when it could be back .

Prosto super pesnaya
